Washington, May 19 /Xin Hua/ — U.S. Vice President Jay Di Vens stated on Tuesday that the Pentagon’s planned deployment of more than 4,000 American military personnel in Poland has been postponed, not canceled.
As he stated at a press briefing at the White House, the administration of Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision on where the troops will ultimately be deployed.
“This is a delay in troop rotation. They can be directed to other European countries,” he explained.
“In fact, we have not yet made a final decision on where these troops will ultimately be deployed,” said J. D. Vance, adding that the D. Trump’s administration “is discussing the possibility of reallocating some resources in such a way as to maximize the security of the USA.”
The Vice President reiterated that the US allies in Europe must take on greater responsibility for their own defense.
“Europe must stand on its own feet,” emphasized J.D. Vance. “This will be our policy toward Europe going forward.”
Last week, a number of American SMIs reported that the planned deployment of American troops was suddenly canceled.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced that within the next 6-12 months, the United States will withdraw approximately 5,000 military personnel from Germany.
