Work on the development of service infrastructure continues on the country’s high-speed highway backbone network. Thus, at the beginning of this year, four cryogenic refueling stations (cryoFSS) were opened on the M-11 “Neva” highway. They are located in the existing multifunctional road service zones (MFZ) at the 176th km in the Tver region and the 594th km in the Leningrad region in both directions. This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“We continue to develop roadside infrastructure and create comfortable rest areas for motorists and passengers on the high-speed highway. Modern multifunctional zones combine a whole range of services on one site – from multi-fuel infrastructure to catering, recreation, and a quality public environment. This ensures a high level of comfort. At the same time, the Ministry of Transport and Communications is becoming a growth point for regions. Now owners of gas-powered vehicles can refuel with liquefied natural gas on the M-11 high-speed highway between Saint Petersburg and Moscow at four new cryoLNG stations.”The expansion of the TANSS network improves the comfort, safety, and economic efficiency of transportation, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Systematic work on the development of gas infrastructure on the mainline continues,” said Marat Khusnullin.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that recently the number of gas filling stations on the territory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has increased along the entire route from Saint Petersburg to Kazan via the M-11 “Neva”, the Central Ring Road (CKAD), and M-12 “Vostok” routes. Thus, the cryoLNG station operates at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, located at the 258th km on the outer side of the Central Ring Road. On the M-12 “Vostok” route, three cryoLNG stations operate in total: two at the 665th km of the highway in both directions, and one at the 233rd km towards Moscow. The placement of one more cryoLNG station in the direction of Kazan at the same kilometer is planned in the second quarter of this year.

Thus, when traveling from Saint Petersburg to Kazan, motorists can use the services of the gas infrastructure at 12 MFT locations.

Earlier, gas refueling stations were also located in the territory of four MFZs, on the sections at the 423rd km and the 665th km of the M-11 “Neva” highway in both directions.

According to the chairman of the board of the state company “Avtodor” Vyacheslav Petushenko, the opening of the new CryoAZS is part of a large effort to equip high-speed highways with modern roadside service facilities.

“Developing roadside service, we primarily focus on the needs of our users, including various types of fuel. This is an important condition for ensuring the comfort and safety of drivers and passengers. In the multifunctional zone, you can use all the necessary services so that people feel more confident when traveling long distances. The service facilities on our highway are not only places for refueling and purchasing goods on the road, but also spaces for full-fledged rest for all road users.”And this significantly increases road safety, since driver fatigue is one of the key factors provoking the risk of road accidents, noted Vyacheslav Petushenko.
