Bishkek, May 20 /Xinhua/ — The meeting of leaders of the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang Party, held in April of this year for the first time in ten years, gave a new impetus to the peaceful development of relations between the two shores of the Taiwan Strait and once again demonstrated to the international community that the complete reunification of China is an inevitable historical trend and the will of the entire people. This was stated by the Ambassador of the PRC to Kyrgyzstan, Lu Zhanpin, in his article published on Wednesday on the website of the publishing house “Evening Bishkek.”

According to her, Taiwan is historically an integral part of China’s territory. The ultimate reunification of the country is the cherished desire of the entire Chinese people and an indispensable condition for the great revival of the Chinese nation.

In 1971, the 26th session of the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758, which recognized the government of the People’s Republic of China as the only legitimate government representing all of China. Thus, the question of China’s representation, including Taiwan, in the UN was finally resolved in political, legal, and procedural aspects.

As of today, 183 states have established diplomatic relations with the PRC based on the principle of one China. “More and more countries firmly adhere to the principle of one China, recognize Taiwan as an inseparable part of Chinese territory, oppose any form of ‘Taiwan independence,’ and resolutely support the efforts of the Chinese government aimed at achieving complete national reunification,” the ambassador noted.

Liu Zhenping pointed out that peaceful reunification will bring real and tangible benefits to Taiwanese compatriots. Continental China, thanks to its high-quality development, opens up broad prospects for Taiwanese enterprises — from the production of electronic chips and agricultural products to technological innovation and cooperation in the service sector. “The continental part of China has always been and remains Taiwan’s most important partner,” emphasized the diplomat.

As she noted, the development of continental China lays a solid foundation for improving the welfare of people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Whether it is employment, entrepreneurship, education, or permanent residence, Taiwanese compatriots enjoy equal rights and guarantees on par with residents of the continental part of China.

“After peaceful reunification, with the support of a strong Motherland, Taiwan will be able to obtain greater opportunities for economic development, more reliable energy resource security, more modern infrastructure, a higher level of safety, and broader space for international cooperation, guaranteeing Taiwanese compatriots a higher level of well-being and spiritual-cultural life,” stated Liu Qianpin.

The ambassador emphasized that separatist activities aimed at achieving “Taiwan independence” and foreign interference are the main sources of tension and chaos, undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait area.

“The Taiwan issue touches upon the core interests of China. Any provocative actions crossing the red line on the Taiwan issue will inevitably meet with resolute resistance from China. Any attempts to prevent the reunification of the country are doomed to fail,” the diplomat stated.

According to Lü Ziyanpin, compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are united by common blood, common culture, common history, a shared responsibility to the nation, and common hopes for the future.

“Matters concerning the two shores are an internal affair of compatriots on both sides of the strait and should be resolved by the Chinese themselves. Compatriots on the two shores of the strait possess sufficient wisdom and the ability to independently resolve existing issues,” she emphasized.

As the post noted, differences in social structure do not change the objective fact: both shores of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China and one Chinese nation.

“If we do not try to split the country and recognize that the residents of both shores are Chinese and one family, the two sides of the strait will be able to sit down at the negotiating table and establish a dialogue, resolve disagreements, strengthen mutual trust, open a new page of peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and form a consensus for the complete reunification of the Motherland,” Liu Jianpin stated.

“The Taiwan issue arose during a period of weakness and turmoil for the Chinese nation and will be finally resolved in the process of its great revival,” concluded the head of the PRC embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
