Vladivostok, May 19 /Xin Hua/ — Primorsky Krai traditionally remains one of the main Russian destinations for Chinese tourists. Today, this region offers guests gastronomic tours, sea cruises, cultural routes, and new resorts. This was stated in an interview with Xin Hua by the Minister of Tourism of Primorsky Krai RF Natalya Naboychenko.

The attractiveness of the region was characterized as a unique blend of natural aesthetics and historical-cultural heritage, recalling a quote from visitors to the Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2025: “Here the mountains dance with the sea.”

In Primorye, rocky mountains neighbor cedar forests. Amur tigers and Far Eastern leopards inhabit four national parks of the region. Vladivostok itself attracts travelers with its location — between Europe and Asia, nature and ocean, history and modernity.

“For tourists from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, we are the nearest Europe to Asia, and for guests from the western regions of Russia and the same countries of Europe, we appear to be a real Asia,” noted N. Naboichenko.

According to the minister, Primorye attracts not only with nature but also with cultural life. Festivals, Russian ballet, and performances on the Primorsky stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, Vladivostok Fortress — all this is popular among tourists from China.

Today in Primorye, a tourist can see how a movie is filmed, walk the paths of Arsenyev from the Oscar-winning film “Dersu Uzala,” and take a ride on the Trans-Siberian Railway mainline.

Special attention in the region is given to cooperation with Chinese investors: about 40 projects involving Chinese capital are being implemented, including tourism. Chinese investors are offered participation in the construction of hotels, water parks, and seaside resorts.

Traditionally, tourists from China make up the majority of foreign guests. In 2025, the region was visited by about 636 thousand foreigners, of which about 520 thousand are citizens of the PRC. About 350 thousand Chinese came for tourism purposes.

“We understand that the largest part of the inbound tourist flow is guests from China. Therefore, the tourism industry tries to use all possible means to make tourists from China feel comfortable,” the minister stated.

Currently, 290 guides work in the region, 70 of whom know Chinese. For Chinese guests, navigation is adapted, guides in Chinese are published, and payment via WeChat and AliPay systems is being implemented in restaurants.

“We see how tourists from the CIS are changing. The groups have decreased — your compatriots now come to us not only in large groups but also in small companies, with families,” noted N. Naboychenko.

According to her, the modern Chinese tourist chooses not shopping, but immersion in local culture, vivid impressions, and sightseeing of unique landscapes.

“Considering that today among tourists there are many young and dynamic people who actively use social networks, broadcast live directly from the city center, and talk about everything they saw and tried during the trip,” added the interlocutor of Xinhuanet.
