Moscow, May 18 /Xin Hua/ — The relations between Russia and China are actively developing and have reached an unprecedentedly high level. The close Russian-Chinese ties are especially in demand in the current situation and carry a stabilizing character. This was stated on Monday by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for foreign policy issues Yuri Ushakov.
“The relations between Russia and China are currently truly actively developing and have reached an unprecedentedly high level. These relations have the character of an all-encompassing partnership and strategic interaction,” noted Yu. Ushakov at the briefing dedicated to the visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the PRC.
According to the aide of the Russian leader, the relations between the Russian Federation and China serve as an example of what the ties and cooperation between neighboring states should be like.
“Our close Russian-Chinese connection is especially in demand in the current international situation; it has a stabilizing character,” emphasized R. Ushakov.
He noted that Russia and China are increasing coordination in the UN, BRICS, the G20, and other international platforms.
“Of course, we continue active interaction within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and together we will mark the 25th anniversary of the SCO this year. And, by the way, we wholeheartedly support the activities of the Chinese chairmanship in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum /APEC/ this year,” said the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.
As Yu. Ushakov emphasized, the two countries are committed to an independent, autonomous policy; at the same time, they “are not allied against anyone.”
“We are not against anyone, we work in the name of peace and universal prosperity. Russia and China are committed to an independent, autonomous foreign policy,” he stated.
The assistant to the Russian leader added that the Russian Federation and China defend the sovereignty of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter, advocate for cultural and civilizational diversity, respect for the sovereign equality of states, and a more just democratic world order.
