Vienna, May 17 /Xinhuanet/ — Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), expressed “serious concern” following a strike using an unmanned aerial vehicle, which caused a fire near the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday. The head of the IAEA called for maximum restraint to avoid a nuclear accident.
As MAGATE indicated on social network X with a link to information from IAEA, the radiation level at the Zaporizhzhia NPP “Barak” remains within the norm, no reports of affected persons have been received.
According to departmental data, a drone strike caused a fire on one of the electric generators outside the internal perimeter of the station. Currently, the power supply for the third power unit of the AES is provided by emergency diesel generators.
