Beijing, May 17 /Xin Hua/ — The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has sent a working group to the Guansi-Chuansky Autonomous Region (GCA, South China) to provide assistance and lead the search and rescue operation after a vehicle carrying several people fell into a river in the territory of the Huangzian-Maonang Autonomous County in GCA. This was reported on Sunday by the Ministry of Emergency Management of the PRC.
According to the county government, the incident occurred on Saturday evening when a truck carrying 15 people fell into the water while moving over a flooded bridge in the village of Loyan. Five people were rescued, the death of one person was confirmed, and nine others are still considered missing.
