Berlin, May 16 /Xin Hua/ — Two people died on Saturday as a result of a light aircraft crash in a residential area south of Mannheim in southwestern Germany. This was reported by local media quoting the police.

According to the police statement, the plane crashed around 11:30 a.m. local time / 09:30 GMT / in the residential area of the Limburgerhof community.

“Numerous fragments are scattered over a vast area around the crash site,” the statement says. It is noted that information about victims among local residents has not yet been received.

As indicated by the police, a large number of law enforcement officers were involved at the scene of the incident, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
