UN, May 16 /Xin Hua/ — UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is alarmed that a UN vehicle was twice attacked on Thursday in the city of Kherson in southern Ukraine. This was reported on Friday by the press secretary of the UN chief, Farhan Haq, at a daily briefing.

A vehicle with clear identifying markings was traveling as part of an inter-agency humanitarian mission headed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, of which the parties had been notified in advance.

According to the press secretary, the UN is working on establishing all the circumstances of this incident.

“The Secretary-General once again states that international law, including the norms of international humanitarian law, must be strictly observed. Civilian persons and property, including humanitarian mission personnel and facilities used for conducting relief operations, must always be respected and protected,” added F. Hak. –0–
