There is a special feeling that is hard to explain In a word: when you are awaited, understood, and accepted without unnecessary conditions. For many, it is associated with family. International Family Day, celebrated on May 15, reminds us of the warmth thanks to which a home becomes… truly native.
The holiday was established in 1993 by a decision of the UN General Assembly, and its celebration began in 1994. At that time, the theme of the family was especially noticeable: the world was changing rapidly, people moved more often, lived and worked differently, and the usual connections between generations became less obvious. Therefore, a separate day was dedicated to the family — not just for a nice checkmark on the calendar, but to speak about what influences a person’s life every day.
There is an interesting Russian detail. In 2008, the Year of the Family was held in the country, and on May 13, literally two days before International Family Day, the Order “Parental Glory” was established. It honors parents and adoptive parents for their significant contribution to raising children. Such a coincidence perfectly illustrates: the conversation about the family is not limited to a holiday, it is connected with real people and everyday work.
In the family, many things are kept not in loud words. Sometimes the main thing is an ordinary evening conversation, the habit of waiting for each other at home, or a story that has been retold in the family for many years. Such details seem small, but it is from them that the feeling that a person has their own roots is formed.
For the State University of Management, this topic is also close. The university environment is built on the transfer of experience: from teacher to student, from mentor to young specialist, from graduate to those who are just beginning their journey. There is the same logic of continuity, without which there is no strong community.
