In Kazan, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, a working meeting took place between the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk and the head of the governmental delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Minister of Higher Education Nida Muhammad Nadim.
The head of the Afghan delegation noted that the composition of the delegation – representatives of 14 ministries and departments of the Islamic Emirate – reflects Afghanistan’s interest in the comprehensive development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Nida Muhammad Nadim expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for the official recognition and the trust placed in the current government of the IEA, which ended the 40-year period of military confrontation on the country’s territory.
During the course of negotiations, Aleksey Overchuk and Nida Muhammad Nadim confirmed mutual interest in developing trade and economic relations, including issues of customs administration and sanitary and veterinary control, as well as cooperation in implementing Afghanistan’s transit potential,
The parties positively evaluated the results of the 1st meeting of the Russian-Afghan Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held on May 13, 2026, in Kazan, and agreed on the continuation of the work of the governments of Russia and Afghanistan on implementing the agreements achieved within the framework of the Working Group.
