The Russian rating agency RAEX has presented the fifth issue of subject ratings of Russian universities, covering 167 universities from 45 regions. Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University of Peter the Great is included in the rating for 19 subject areas out of 35. The university has strengthened its positions in five areas and maintained high results in another seven.

Saint Petersburg Polytechnic, as the country’s leading polytechnic university, traditionally demonstrates the best indicators in the engineering and technological sector.

SPbPU once again confirmed its status as a polytechnic university with a diverse portfolio of educational programs, combining the heritage of the Russian engineering school with advanced forms of project-based learning and digital competencies. Our leadership and high positions in the rating in directions traditionally important for us, such as mathematics, physics, construction, mechanical engineering and robotics, confirm the fundamental nature of the training we provide. Moreover, today we see positive dynamics in the rating in the field of “nuclear energy and technologies” and “materials technologies”, which in…in the key scientific and technological areas of university development, — noted the rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy.

In the “Construction” direction, SPbPU has retained leadership for the fourth consecutive year.

The first place among Russian universities in the RAEX ranking in the “Construction” direction for four years in a row is the merit of the entire ISI team, built on systematic work on key directions of education, science, and practice-oriented personnel training. The university’s stable position in the ranking proves the effectiveness of the educational model aimed at training highly qualified specialists and future technological leaders in the construction industry. The Engineering and Construction Institute attracts the best applicants, develops talents, and also creates a professional intellectual environment for the formation of a new generation of engineers in Russia, — comments Marina Petrochenko, director of the Engineering and Construction Institute of SPbPU.

By direction“Mechanical Engineering and Robotics”Politest has been in second place for several years.

This year, the university improved its positions immediately in five areas.“Nuclear Energy and Technology”The ‘Technology of Materials’ university moved down to fourth place in the rankings. At the same time, Saint Petersburg Polytechnic rose three positions in the ‘Mathematics’ field.

SPbPU in its activities strives to form technological solutions that will be in demand in the future, and places at the forefront not only the advanced technical characteristics of developments, but also the potential economic effect that Russian enterprises will receive during their implementation. A logical reflection of this development vector was the improvement of the university’s positions in the fields of “Management” and “Economics.” In these categories, the university rose by one position: from eighth to seventh place and from tenth to ninth place, respectively.

The RAEX rating agency was founded in 2015, but its team has been assessing universities since 1995 — initially within the framework of the “Expert” magazine, and later as part of “Expert RA”. Today, the agency annually publishes more than 100 ratings and organizes over 50 professional events. Its methodology has undergone an audit by the international organization IREG, which unites leading developers of educational rankings and universities worldwide.

RAEX subject ratings evaluate three key missions of a university: educational, scientific, and social. They show which universities provide the best specialist training and conduct advanced research in a particular field, considering their contribution to social development. The methodology relies exclusively on objective indicators — expert surveys are not used in the calculations.
