Yerevan, May 13 /Sina/ — Armenia welcomes Turkey’s decision to lift restrictions on direct trade between the two countries. The corresponding statement was published on Wednesday on the social networks by the press secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ani Badalyan.
“We welcome Turkey’s decision to lift restrictions on bilateral trade with the Republic of Armenia. This is another result of the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey. This decision is significant from the point of view of expanding trade and business ties between the two countries, promoting economic interconnection in the region, and ensuring peace and prosperity. We emphasize that this is an important step on the path to developing full-fledged and normal relations between the two countries,” wrote A. Badalyan.
According to her, a logical continuation of this decision may be the opening of the border and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly /Parliament/, the Special Representative of Armenia on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, Ruben Rubinyan, posted on social media that the adopted decision will allow direct trade between Armenia and Turkey without reprocessing customs declarations.
He added that efforts to open the border continue, including the resumption of work on the Gyumri-Kars railway.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey announced on May 13 the completion of preparations for the launch of direct trade with Armenia. –0–
