This year, capital gas workers will continue the planned modernization of shut-off devices in the city’s gas distribution network. As part of the work, they plan to update 86 shut-off mechanisms. This was reported incomplex of the urban economy of Moscow.

A significant part of the work will take place in the territories of the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts, where active development of urban infrastructure continues, as well as construction of new residential quarters and social facilities.

Shut-off valves play an important role in ensuring the safety of the gas distribution system. These devices allow for the immediate isolation of individual sections of gas pipelines during repair, technical maintenance, or reconstruction without interrupting the gas supply across the entire network. The planned modernization will help improve the reliability of the equipment operation and the resilience of the infrastructure against external impacts.

In addition, within the framework of the program, modern technological solutions continue to be implemented. Shut-off devices are equipped with electric drives, which allows them to be controlled remotely from the central dispatching office of JSC “Mosgaz”. This helps specialists to respond faster in emergency situations and more promptly localize potential accident sites.

Equipment of Russian manufacture, which has been certified and is designed for long-term operation — more than 40 years, is planned to be used for installation. Devices replace gas pipelines of various pressures — from low to high — and pipelines with a diameter from 50 to 700 millimeters. When planning the work, specialists take into account the characteristics of the areas, building density, and parameters of gas networks, which allows modernization without disconnecting consumers from the gas supply.

In the work mode, special attention is paid to the quality of installations. Specialists check weld joints, tightness, the condition of anti-corrosion protection, and the reliability of fastenings. Welding quality control is carried out by the mobile laboratory of the Moscow gas economy, and the entire modernization process is under constant supervision of the dispatch service.

JSC “Mosgaz” continues systematic work on servicing the shut-off valves of the city gas network. Specialists regularly check the operability of drives and connections, assess the condition of metal structures and protective coatings, and when necessary, adjust, lubricate, or replace individual elements. The use of digital technologies and modern diagnostic systems allows timely detection of potential malfunctions and prompt elimination of them.

Implementation of the modernization program in 2026 is aimed at further increasing the reliability and safety of the capital’s gas supply, as well as ensuring the sustainable operation of the gas infrastructure amid the active development of the city.

The projects being implemented in the capital for the development and modernization of engineering infrastructure correspond to the goals and objectives of the national project.“Infrastructure for Life”.
