London, May 12 /Xin Hua/ — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told members of his cabinet that he intends to “continue managing,” and that the procedure for removing the leader of the Labour Party has not been initiated. This was reported on Tuesday by British media.
“As I already said yesterday, I take responsibility for these election results and for carrying out the promised changes,” quotes the words of the Downing Street representative British TV channel Sky News.
“The country expects us to take care of governance. This is exactly what I do, and this is exactly what we must do as the cabinet,” K. Starmer said at the beginning of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning.
K. Starmer is under increasing pressure with demands to resign following the results of his party in local elections held last week. His party lost nearly 1500 seats in English councils and lost control over about 40 local councils, including several of its traditional strongholds.
K. Starmer said on Monday morning that since the results turned out to be “very difficult,” he is not going to “give up.” –0–
