Today, a truck of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), carrying out a humanitarian mission to deliver 800 food kits to peaceful residents of two settlements near the frontline in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, was fired upon by an FPV drone.

The truck was moving in a column along with two armored VPV passenger vehicles. In total, seven employees of the organization were on board the vehicles.

After the successful unloading of food products, the truck was damaged by a drone with a first-person view (FPV drone). The driver was injured and was immediately taken to the hospital. Two other vehicles left the scene. The truck was subsequently hit several times by other drones.

All vehicles were clearly marked with the UN.

“The fact that civilians and humanitarian workers have to risk their own safety to deliver vital aid to people on the front lines, who are in a desperate situation, is shocking and outrageous,” said VPPI-Ukraine Director Richard Regan.

“These ongoing attacks on humanitarian convoys and distribution points pose a threat to the people we are helping and may deprive them of vital support,” he added.

Over the past two years, the VPP has registered more than 80 attacks on its vehicles, warehouses, distribution points, as well as on the vehicles and property of its Ukrainian humanitarian partners.

Despite the escalation of the security situation, WFP continues to provide food and cash assistance monthly to nearly 600 thousand people in the frontline regions of Ukraine. In the past month alone, WFP delivered food kits to 157 thousand people in frontline areas.
