Today, at the site of the new NRU campus, a photo exhibition “The First Among the Stars” was opened, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. The photo exhibition includes 30 unique documentary frames created by RIA Novosti photo correspondents; it tells about how the dream of the stars became part of the great history of Russia, its science, culture, and everyday life.
The rector of NSU, a corresponding member of the RAS, took part in the opening of the exhibitionDmitry Pyshny. He noted the importance of holding the event at the NGU venue:
—We are very pleased with the opening of this exhibition and the opportunity that our partners — RIA Novosti — have presented to us. That NGU chose one of the venues for holding the exhibition is no coincidence. Our university has had a department of aerospace research for over 40 years. It has more than 100 instruments to its credit, successfully launched into orbit on various spacecraft. We are actively developing new instruments, including small spacecraft.Three NGU satellites are currently in orbit, and recently the university began developing a new satellite, NOLBI-4, with a neuromodule to test artificial intelligence functions in information processing and algorithms for stabilization and positioning of the device in orbit. Therefore, once again, a huge thank you to our partners who came to us with such excellent material. I hope that the students will actively study it, because this is truly our historical past, present, and future.
“First Among Stars” is a federal project that will cover 10 cities in Russia. The exhibition has already opened at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, the Lugansk State University named after V. Dahl, and the Orlyonok All-Russian Children’s Center. After Novosibirsk, the project will launch in May in Saratov, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, and Saint Petersburg.
In the exhibition, you can familiarize yourself with the milestones and history of space exploration: from Tsiolkovsky and Korolyov to Gagarin, Tereshkova, and Leonov, from the first satellites and orbital stations to the ISS, lunar programs, and future projects.
—It is especially important that the photo exhibition is opened at the site of Novosibirsk State University — it is a connecting link between students and the institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, opening the way to new discoveries, including in space. It is impossible to fit the entire history of space exploration into 30 frames, so we supplemented the exposition with QR codes leading to podcasts to show how significant these achievements are for the entire country. Our exhibition is intended not only to preserve the memory of the past but also to inspire youth for the future.— saidKirill Ibragimov, head of the project implementation department of the educational projects of the International Media Group “Russia Today”.
The project is implemented by RIA Novosti, Radio Sputnik, and the holding On Media with the support of the State Corporation “Roscosmos”, the Russian military-historical society, the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Historical Society.
The exhibition at NGU will be open until the end of May. You can view the exposition in the hallway on the second floor of the NGU current-audience building (3 Pirogova St.).
