Moscow, May 10 /Cinhua/ — A meeting with the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, is possible only for signing the final agreements on resolving the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, Russian President Vladimir Putin said to journalists on Saturday.
“It is possible to meet also in a third country, but only in the case when the final agreements on the peace treaty, which should be designed for a long historical perspective, have been reached, in order to participate in this event, or to sign something, but this must be the final point, not the negotiations themselves,” said the Russian leader.
The President of Russia noted that he knows very well what negotiations are. “I personally went through this well in Minsk during the development of the Minsk agreements. You can talk for hours, endlessly, day and night — to no avail. It is necessary for specialists to work, do everything so that it is clear to both sides that the agreements are fully coordinated. In this case, you can meet anywhere to either sign or witness the signing,” he said.
On Saturday, the aide to the President of the Russian Federation on foreign policy Yuri Ushakov noted that the Russian leader has repeatedly stated his readiness to receive V. Zelensky in Moscow.
“Well, these are old signals that were transmitted through many people, including through D. Trump. And our president has responded several times that if he (Zelensky) wants, please, let him call Moscow, we are ready to accept and conduct negotiations,” said Y. Ushakov. –0–
