On May 10, 2026, WHO representative Maria van Kerkhove stated that, considering the virus’s long incubation period, passengers and crew will be monitored for six weeks.

“Our recommendation is active observation, which involves daily monitoring of condition, checking temperature, and other symptoms,” she explained, adding that WHO insists on home or inpatient quarantine for 42 days.

“This is a precautionary measure aimed at completely eliminating the possibility of virus transmission. We also recommended to everyone going to the shore to use respirator masks when in contact with others as an additional level of protection,” he added.
