Beijing, May 9 /Xin Hua/ — The upcoming 10th China-Russia EXPO is aimed at stimulating the improvement of the quality and level of trade-economic cooperation between China and Russia into a new era. This was announced at the thematic press conference of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, held on Friday.

The 10th China-Russia EXPO, titled “Trust. Cooperation. Mutual Benefit,” will be held from May 17 to 21 in the city of Harbin (administrative center of Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China). This is the largest large-scale comprehensive exhibition event of the highest level, aimed at promoting trade and economic cooperation between China and Russia.

According to Van Xinmei, Deputy Head of the Committee for the Promotion of International Trade Development of Heilongjiang Province, the total exhibition area of the current EXPO will be 55 thousand square meters. The event will be attended by more than 1,500 enterprises from 46 countries and regions of the world, including about 300 Russian companies. The exhibition will also be visited by a Russian delegation of buyers numbering more than 5,000 people.

It is known that within the framework of EXPO, the provinces will be honorary guests on the Chinese side – Guangdong (Southern China) and Jiangxi (Eastern China), and the honorary guest city on the Russian side is Moscow. Appropriate events will be held to deepen industrial ties, trade-economic and cultural exchanges between the regions of the two countries.

According to an official from the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, in addition to such Chinese regions that traditionally cooperate with Russia, like the provinces of Northeast China and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, some other coastal and central Chinese provinces also enthusiastically seek interaction with Russia, thanks to which a comprehensive and multi-level architecture of interregional cooperation between the two countries has been formed.

As explained by Elena Serdyukova, a representative of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation within the composition of the Russian trade representation in China, the Russian export center in Harbin will form an exposition of goods from more than 100 Russian manufacturers of agro-industrial complex products, cosmetics, consumer goods, and jewelry from more than 40 regions of Russia.

According to her, 16 subjects of the Russian Federation will be represented at EXPO, and between the Russian and Chinese sides, it is planned to sign a number of important agreements and memorandums.

It was announced at the press conference that the EXPO site will feature 8 exhibition zones dedicated to China-Russia cooperation, environmentally friendly food products, electronic devices, large-scale equipment, and other topics.

The event will feature presentations of more than 500 new products, as well as more than 800 new projects, cooperation programs, and technologies. At the same time, highly technological companies and enterprises distinguished by specialization, detail, uniqueness, and innovativeness will make up more than 20% of the total number of exhibitors. In addition, new forms and models of China-Russia cooperation will be comprehensively presented, including culture and tourism within the framework of a mutual visa-free regime and cross-border electronic commerce.

In 2026, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia partnership relations and strategic interaction will be celebrated, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation.In the context of promoting high-quality development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, Ma Chi noted that it is necessary to continue stabilizing trade in energy carriers, minerals, grain, and other raw materials, expand trade in electromechanical products, specific agricultural products and consumer goods, accelerate the development of cross-border e-commerce, and also promote the modernization of the modern service sector.

It is also necessary to continue the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the PRC and the Government of the Russian Federation on Encouragement and Mutual Protection of Investments, paying special attention to such areas as infrastructure, green and low-carbon technologies, biomedicine, and others, as well as to expand opportunities for bilateral investment cooperation, he added.

The China-Russia EXPO has been regularly held since 2014, hosting guests alternately in China and Russia. Over the years of holding this exhibition, more than 7,200 Chinese and Russian companies and 1.05 million trade guests have participated in the event.

The organizers of the 10th China-Russia EXPO are jointly the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
