Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the head of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Leonid Pasechnik. The discussion focused on the development of education, science, youth policy, and sports in the region.
“Modern, well-equipped facilities for our children and youth are being created in the region, providing opportunities for the creative development of the younger generation. The republic ensures 100 percent accessibility of preschool and general education. This is an excellent result. The summer wellness campaign will start very soon. As part of it, more than 25 thousand children from the LPR will be able to rest in various regions of the country,” the vice-premier noted.
He thanked Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, and Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin for their systematic work.
Dmitry Chernyshenko drew attention to the fact that an important task for the development of the republic’s economy is the training of qualified specialists, including under the “Professionalism” program of the national project “Youth and Children.” In the LNR, three clusters are already operational, where almost 5,000 people are being trained. The region also submitted an application to create two more.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked the head of the republic to keep the issue of preparing and conducting the admission campaign to colleges and universities, which starts on June 20, under personal control. For the upcoming academic year, educational institutions of the LNR have been allocated more than 17.3 thousand budget-funded places.
“As our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin says, high quality of education is the key to Russia being able to solve the most complex tasks. The region and the city are developing, progress is visible. A lot of work is being done, including educational work. The region has already won the “Region for the Young” contest three times. This provides an additional influx of investment for the modernization of infrastructure. Within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children,” about 240 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
He noted that the Luhansk Youth House is one of the largest centers in the country, with almost 100,000 people participating in its events.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that a volunteer movement is actively developing in the LNR, involving about 100 thousand young people. There are five #WeAreTogether headquarters in the region, “Dobro.Centers”, which actively assist the servicemen of the special military operation and their families.
Special attention was paid to the development of sports. Large-scale work is underway in the region to restore sports infrastructure. Eight physical culture and wellness complexes have been created, and sports institutions are being equipped with modern equipment and inventory.
The head of the LPR expressed gratitude to the President, the Government of Russia, and the region heads for the invaluable assistance provided to Lugansk. Since 2022, the revival of the republic, including educational, youth, and sports infrastructure, is in full swing.
“Thanks to federal support and the efforts of the regional team, all conditions have been created for our youth to fully develop, receive education, and improve health. All facilities are being built and restored according to modern Russian standards. The young generation grows up with the right values of love for the Motherland, receiving many opportunities for self-realization by participating in projects and competitions at both the regional and federal levels. I am convinced that through our joint efforts we will surely raise worthy youth who will be able to proudly carry the Victory Banner in the future,” emphasized Leonid Pasechnik.
Dmitry Chernyshenko stated that the Government of Russia will continue systemic support for the LOI in all areas within the framework of the socio-economic development program.
