With colleagues from Henan University of Urban Construction
From April 12 to 19, a delegation from the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering paid a working visit to the People’s Republic of China. The purpose of the trip was to strengthen partnership ties, discuss promising scientific and educational projects with leading Chinese universities.
The delegation was headed by the vice-rector for scientific activitiesEvgeny Korolev.The composition included the dean of the Faculty of Engineering Ecology and Urban EconomyDmitry Ulri,head of the educational and methodological departmentElena Alexandrovaand the head of the international activities departmentShuainat A Almadulaeva.
Meeting a new partner–Â NCWU
The visit program began with a visit to the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power. The meeting was introductory in nature and became the first step towards establishing a partnership between the universities.
The vice-rector greeted the delegation from the Chinese universityLi Yanbin,who marked the symbolic nature of the visit:“The years 2026–2027 have been declared Cross Years of Education in Russia and China. The beginning of cooperation in this year acquires special significance and is an important step in the development of partnership.”
During the negotiations, the parties discussed key areas of interaction, including joint scientific research, exchange of students and teachers, as well as the development of educational programs. The delegation from SPbGASU visited the university’s history museum, the analytical and testing center, and the Institute of Ecology and Environment.
As a result of the visit, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a cooperation agreement between the universities.
Development of cooperation with HGU
The next stage of the visit was a trip to Henan University of Urban Construction — a long-standing partner of SPbGASU, with which cooperation has been successfully developing since 2017.
During a meeting with university representatives, including the vice-rectorSun Yat-sen,The prospects for the development of an international laboratory in the field of water use and ecology, as well as the implementation of a joint educational program, were discussed.
A special event was the awarding of the title of honorary professor of Henan University of Urban Construction to Evgeny Korolev as a recognition of his contribution to the development of Russian-Chinese scientific and educational cooperation.
Interaction with industrial partners
During the trip, the SPBGASU delegation also visited Chinese enterprises, including the Loyal Henan plant and the innovative company Henan Chenye. Both enterprises specialize in the development and small-scale production of construction chemistry – additives for concrete and modern construction materials.
Company representatives expressed interest in establishing cooperation with SPbGASU, which opens up additional opportunities for applied research and innovation implementation.
Career guidance
Special attention during the visit was given to career guidance activities. The delegation visited the first secondary general education school of the city of Pindishan, where a meeting was held with the administration and students.
On this day, a festival of arts and sciences was held at the school. The students presented an exhibition of creative works, demonstrated knowledge in natural science disciplines, and also showed their own models and scientific developments, which testifies to a high level of training and interest in science.
Visit results
The visit of the SPbGASU delegation to China became a significant stage in the development of the international activities of our university. Agreements reached with the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power and with Henan University of Urban Construction form a solid foundation for long-term cooperation.
Chinese partners highly appreciated the scientific and educational potential of SPbGASU, emphasizing the importance of joint research in the fields of water supply, ecology, and urban economy. The results of the visit contribute to strengthening the university’s position on the international stage and open new opportunities for students and teachers.
