Large centers for the development of science and modern technologies – the Moscow region cities of Dubna and Korolyov, which have the status of science cities, receive funding from the federal budget for activities aimed at implementing social and economic development strategies. This order was signed by the Chairman of the Government, Mikhail Mishustin.

Subsidies will be directed towards the expansion of research infrastructure in science cities, the modernization of industrial complexes, and the necessary infrastructure for work.

“It is important to use these financial resources as effectively as possible to ensure opportunities for enhancing the potential of scientific teams and key industrial enterprises,” noted Mikhail Mishustin atmeeting with the vice-premiers on May 4, emphasizing that science cities contribute significantly to the creation of unique solutions and innovations, many of which have no counterparts.

In 2025, the Government extended the status of science cities for Dubna and Korolyov until 2040. As of today, Dubna is one of the largest scientific and production centers in Russia. There, in particular, operate the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, the State Machine-Building Design Bureau “Raduga” named after A.Ya. Bereznyak, JSC “NII Atoll,” and other enterprises.

The city of Korolyov is named after the outstanding scientist, academician Sergei Pavlovich Korolev. The city is home to enterprises of the rocket and space industry, including the Flight Control Center, the rocket and space corporation “Energia” named after S.P. Korolev, and the corporation “Tactical Missile Armament.”
