Moscow, May 4 /Xinhuanet/ — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati discussed the situation in the Middle East by phone and called for the resumption of negotiations on Iran. The Russian Foreign Ministry reported this on Monday following talks between the two ministers.
“The heads of the foreign policy departments of Russia and Egypt held detailed discussions on the current situation in the Middle East, which has developed as a result of the aggression of the USA and Israel against Iran. They emphasized the necessity of resuming the negotiation process with the aim of promptly achieving agreements on the long-term sustainable settlement of the crisis in the Persian Gulf zone, taking into account the legitimate interests of all countries in the region,” the statement published on the website of the Russian foreign ministry says.
As noted by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the telephone conversation took place on the initiative of the Egyptian side.
