Tehran, May 4 /Xin Hua/ — Iran is fully prepared for “any scenario” in the Strait of Hormuz and will not suffer “bullying” from the US armed forces. This was reported on Monday by the Iranian semi-official news agency Tasnim.

As a source in the Iranian army told the agency, Iranian forces will block American military passage through the Strait and will demand that US ships request permission before passing through it.

The Iranian news agency Fars, citing local sources, reported that the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran struck an American frigate with two missiles near the southern Iranian port city of Jask, forcing the ship to turn around. Later, the newspaper Shargh Daily reported that the Iranian naval forces fired cruise missiles, rockets, and combat drones as a “warning shot” in the direction of US destroyers present in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the statement from the Iranian state news agency IRNA, the central headquarters of Iran’s Armed Forces “Khatam al-Anbiya” on Monday warned that “any foreign armed forces, especially the US naval army, will be attacked” if they attempt to enter the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that on Monday the United States will provide escort for ships blocked in the Strait of Hormuz to bring them out of there to a safe place.
