Seoul, May 4 /Xin Hua/ — An explosion and fire occurred on Monday on a ship anchored in the Strait of Hormuz, operated by the Republic of Korea /ROK/. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ROK.

According to the department’s information, on board the vessel HMM NAMU, which is sailing under the flag of Panama, there are six crew members from the Republic of Korea and 18 foreign sailors. No reports of casualties have been received.

The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the cause of the explosion and fire is currently being established, as well as the exact extent of the damage.
