At the engine plant of PJSC “KAMAZ,” the modernization of equipment continues. The improvements affected Cell 054, where the testing laboratory and the engine overhaul section are located.
The engine test stand underwent modernization, on which parameters of fuel consumption and engine torque are measured. The previous system could no longer cope with the load, the equipment was wearing out, and finding spare parts was problematic. Specialists from the central laboratory of the engine’s Promelektronika plant helped fix the situation. According to the author of the new measuring system, the KIPiA adjustment technician Leonid Mylnikov, developing it was decided based on equipment from a domestic company.“This gives an advantage – indispensable materials for work and repairs are always readily available. After all, the equipment is important, it was necessary to ensure its round-the-clock uninterrupted operation”, – he noted.
In his laboratory, Leonid designed a new control system, which he successfully managed to integrate into the already existing measurement part of the stand.“I tested it myself on a test bench that simulated the operating conditions of the system. Instead of the outdated glow discharge indicators, I installed digital LEDs to make it easier to read the measurement results. Moreover, the fuel measurement system now displays the fuel weight as an electronic signal, which from a mechanic’s point of view is simpler — thus, its adjustment, repair, and maintenance have become easier.”, – explainedLeonid Mylnikov.
After successful inspections, the system was implemented in production: the old one was dismantled, a new flow meter was installed in its place, and a control cabinet was mounted outside the test box. According to plant workers, the measuring system is reliable, accurate, safe, and easy to operate. The economic effect of modernizing the stand is calculated in millions of rubles.
