London, April 30 /Xin Hua/ — Britain on Thursday raised the level of terrorist threat to “severe” (the second-highest level of danger) after the police recognized the knife attack in the Golders Green area of London as a “terrorist incident.” This was stated by the UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
“Today the national threat level has been raised to ‘serious.’ This means that a terrorist act is considered quite likely,” said S. Mahmoud, noting that this step may cause concern, “especially among our Jewish community, which has suffered so much.”
On April 29 in the Golders Green area in northwest London, a man with a knife attacked a member of the Jewish community. Later, the police counter-terrorism unit classified the incident as a terrorist attack.
As reported by the head of the counter-terrorism unit of the London police, Laurence Taylor, two victims aged 76 and 34 received knife wounds and are being treated in hospital.
