Minsk, April 30 /Xin Hua/ — Belarus and Tanzania have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of a joint committee on trade and economic cooperation. The document was signed during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, to Tanzania. Corresponding information was published by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus on Wednesday.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Belarus met with the State Minister for Planning and Investment in the Administration of the President of Tanzania, Kitila Alexander Mkumbo. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of economic cooperation, focusing on the implementation of projects in the areas of agricultural mechanization, ensuring food security, and the supply of firefighting equipment and devices of Belarusian manufacture.

M. Ryzhenkov noted that Belarus considers Tanzania as its strategic partner not only in the context of developing bilateral trade and economic relations, but also as a platform for the export of Belarusian and jointly produced goods to the markets of East and Southern African countries.

For the development of new projects in the trade and economic sphere and the qualitative elaboration of already outlined directions of cooperation, an intergovernmental agreement was signed on the establishment of a joint committee on trade and economic cooperation. The parties agreed on expanding the contractual and legal framework regarding assistance in mutual investments, customs cooperation, and simplification of the visa regime. –0–
