Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk took part in the solemn event “Message from the Victor: the connection of generations 1945–2045,” aimed at preserving historical continuity and fostering patriotism among the younger generation through a connection with the heroic past of the Fatherland.

The event dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place on April 30 on the territory of the Military-Patriotic Culture and Recreation Park of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation “Patriot.” It was attended by heads of the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Export Center, VEB.RF, representatives of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense, veterans’ associations, cadets of the Avangard center, and servicemen of the Moscow military district.

The central event was the laying of a “Memory Capsule” containing messages from veterans of the Great Patriotic War to future generations; the capsule is planned to be opened in 2045 — on the 100th anniversary of the Great Victory.

In his appeal, the Deputy Chairman of the Government emphasized the importance of the memory of Victory as a moral support for the state and society. He noted: “In 2026, it will be 81 years since Victory Day. This is a historical milestone that continues today to define the development of our state, our society. The memory of this event is not only a tribute to the past, but also an important guide for making decisions today, for a creative future.”

Aleksey Overchuk noted the importance of maintaining a living connection between generations: “It is important for young people to know the truth about the history of the war, to feel a living, personal connection with the victors, so that the heroes do not remain anonymous, and so that the family story becomes part of the country’s history. That is why forms of such living participation are needed: recording memories, creating family albums, letters, school projects, volunteer work, helping veterans, city memorial initiatives – this is what unites us and allows us to maintain historical continuity.”

The Deputy Prime Minister reminded about the time of opening the capsule: “It is important that people in 2045 will have an internal understanding of why May 9, 1945, remains a moral cornerstone for our state, for society, for the family, for each of us. The memory of victory is not only our duty to the past, it is our shared responsibility to the future.”

Alexey Overchuk called to carefully preserve the memory of the people and pass it on to the youth and future generations.

An important part of the program was the ceremony of handing over banners and certificates of assignment to the regional branches of the All-Russian children’s and youth military-patriotic public movement “Yunarmiya” named after the Heroes of the Fatherland, in which honorary titles were received by the branches of Vologda Oblast, the Republic of Dagestan, and Zabaykalsky Krai.

Within the framework of the solemn part, flowers were laid at the sculptural composition “To the Mothers of the Victors” and large-scale copies of the Victory Banner and the St. George’s ribbon were unfolded on the square of the museum and exhibition complex.
