Moscow, April 29 /Sina/ — Russia hopes for a softening of OPEC+ — the expanded format of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) — after the withdrawal of the United Arab Emirates, since the respective agreements allow stabilizing global energy markets. This was stated by the press secretary of the president of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on Wednesday.
“This is a very important area of work, which is especially important in the current conditions when energy markets, to put it mildly, are stormy. This is a format that allows significantly minimizing fluctuations in energy markets and allows these markets to be stabilized,” noted D. Peskov.
According to him, Russia does not consider the possibility of withdrawal from the OPEC+ format against the backdrop of OPEC’s decision to leave the organization.
As emphasized by the Kremlin representative, the withdrawal from OPEC+ is a sovereign decision of that country, and Russia regards it with respect.
On April 28, the OPEC announced an increase in oil production from OPEC and OPEC+ starting May 1, 2026. –0–
