At the G. V. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, a solemn award ceremony for the “Kolba” prizes for women scientists and specialists took place. Among the laureates was Professor Natalya Politaeva of the Engineering and Construction Institute of the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great. The event was held within the framework of the annual forum dedicated to issues of supporting women in science, expanding professional opportunities, and increasing the representation of scientific achievements in the media. The Women’s Union acted as a partner of the project.

Natalya Politaeva became the laureate of the “Kolba” award in the “Ecology” nomination. The scientific activity of the scientist and her research group is aimed at the development and implementation of nature-like technologies that contribute to solving urgent environmental problems and reducing the anthropogenic load on the environment.

The “Kolba” project has been shaping the image of the modern female scientist for over five years, popularizing the achievements of its participants and supporting professional growth. During its work, more than 300 interviews with participants have been published, and in 2026 the award set a record by presenting more than 30 nominations.

The plenary session of the forum was opened by honorary guests: Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Lyudmila Skakovskaya, Deputy Secretary General of the Assembly of the Peoples of the World Yulia Petrova, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Anna Skroznicova, founder and general director of ITK “Remiling-2000” Inga Legasova, Russian public and political figure Ekaterina Kharchenko.The speakers emphasized the importance of uniting women scientists to increase visibility in the national and international scientific space, strengthen the country’s human and intellectual potential, and popularize science.

The ceremony of awarding the “Kolba” prize is not only a bright and inspiring event, but also an opportunity to meet with women scientists from various cities and countries, to exchange experiences and ideas. Such platforms help to find like-minded people and partners for joint projects, as well as attract public attention to how science can change the quality of life and the state of the environment,” noted Natalya Politaeva.
