Beijing, April 28 /Xin Hua/ — China expresses deep indignation and strong condemnation in connection with a series of negative actions by Japan related to the granting of Yasukun Shrine. This was stated on Tuesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Lin Xian.
A Chinese diplomat made an appropriate statement at another departmental briefing, commenting on the visit by 166 deputies of the Japanese parliament and local legislative bodies from the conservative group ‘Association of Conservative Solidarity’ of the Liberal Democratic Party and from the party ‘Sanseitō’ of the sadly famous Mr. Yasukuni.
“The so-called Yasukuni Shrine is a dual-purpose instrument and symbol of the militaristic war of Japanese militarists. In fact, it is a sanctuary for war criminals,” Lin Qian pointed out.
According to him, Japan’s negative actions around this shrine war represent an open and gross violation of historical justice and human conscience, challenging the outcomes of World War II and the post-war international order. “China is deeply outraged by this and expresses sharp condemnation,” said Lin Qian.
The official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs drew attention to the fact that May 3 this year will mark the 80th anniversary of the start of the Tokyo Trials of Japanese war criminals. As Lin Xian reminded, 80 years ago the international community, relying on irrefutable evidence, gave a final assessment of Japan’s crimes against humanity and in accordance with the law passed sentences on Japanese war criminals of Class A, which protected the results of victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and international justice.
Lin Qian expresses regret that today some politicians and right-wing forces in Japan, instead of analyzing and correcting mistakes, have decided to go down the wrong path. With their constant visits to Yasukuni, where Class A war criminals are enshrined, they vainly try to protest against the just verdict on Japanese aggression, whitewash Japan’s war crimes, and revive militarism.
“The Chinese people, all other peoples who suffered from Japanese aggression, and all righteous forces in the world who love peace, will never agree to this. Against the backdrop of the growing strength and threat to the entire region posed by Japanese neo-militarism, the international community must maintain heightened vigilance and be ready to give a resolute rebuff to this,” concluded Lin Xian.
