Seoul, April 28 /Xinhua/ — Kim Gun Hee, wife of former Republic of Korea (South Korea) President Yoon Suk-yeol, was sentenced in an appellate court to four years in prison for corruption. This is evidenced by footage of the live broadcast shown on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court of Seoul overturned the lower court’s decision, increasing Kim Kon Hee’s prison sentence from 20 months to four years and imposing a fine of 50 million won (about 33,910 US dollars).

The court confirmed that she was involved in manipulating stock prices, finding her guilty of obtaining valuables from the ‘Church of Unity.’

After the decision of the second instance, lawyer Kim Kon Hi stated that they will appeal it to the Supreme Court.

Ei was charged in August 2025. Kim Kon Hi became the first wife of a president to stand trial under conditions of detention.
