Moscow, April 28 /TASS/ — In a number of regions of Russia, due to wet snow, thunderstorms, hail, and strong wind, partial power outages have occurred. More than 70 thousand people are left without electricity, the press service of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief /EMERCOM/ of the Russian Federation reported.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 2 thousand trees fell due to bad weather, and over 1 thousand cars were damaged. Power outages mainly affected residents of the Vologda region, where 42 thousand people remain without power supply. The Moscow and Novgorod regions were also affected.
In Moscow, Moscow and Samara regions, 33 people were injured, including four children. Three people died from falling trees in the Samara region, where wind gusts up to 27 m/s were recorded, reported the regional governor Vyacheslav Fedoryshev.
Precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow began in a number of regions on the evening of April 26; gusty winds and the sticking of wet snow may persist until the end of April 28.
In the Moscow region, due to mass power outages, a prosecutor’s investigation has been organized, and if necessary, the introduction of high alert and emergency regimes will be initiated, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reports. –0–
