Athens, April 28 /Synchua/ — Five people were injured as a result of a series of incidents involving shooting in the capital of Greece, Athens, on Tuesday. An 89-year-old suspect is on the wanted list, reported the Greek TV channel ERT-news.

The first shooting occurred shortly before 10:00 AM local time /07:00 GMT/ in the Petralona area in the southwest of Athens. It is reported that the suspect climbed to the fourth floor of the social welfare institution building and opened fire with a shotgun. One employee sustained minor leg injuries and was urgently taken to a central hospital in Athens in a condition that does not pose a threat to life.

Presumably, the suspect later went to the building of the Athens Court of Appeal. There he went up to the fourth floor and opened fire, injuring four more people. It is reported that all the injuries were minor. The shooter abandoned the weapon at the scene and fled.

A large-scale police operation is being conducted throughout Athens to establish the whereabouts and detain an elderly man.
