Naypyidaw, April 25 /Xin Hua/ — Newly elected President of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing held a meeting on Saturday in Naypyidaw with a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs Qin Gang I.
Noting that Myanmar consistently considers its relations with China as the most important bilateral ties, Min Aung Hlaing emphasized that Myanmar remains committed to the One China principle, and also highly values and actively supports the four global initiatives put forward by the Chinese side.
The President of Myanmar stated that the new government of Myanmar intends to strengthen high-level contacts with China, promote the construction of the Myanmar-China economic corridor, and jointly work on maintaining peace and stability at the border, while continuously deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
Min Aung Hlaing added that Myanmar will never allow any activities on its territory that harm China’s interests, will continue to strengthen the fight against online gambling and telecommunications fraud, and will take practical measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in the country.
Van Yi, for his part, emphasized that China’s policy towards Myanmar remains unchanged. He pointed out that China resolutely supports Myanmar in successfully following a development path that corresponds to its national conditions and enjoys the support of the people, and firmly stands on the side of Myanmar in protecting national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, as well as in achieving peace within the country, national reconciliation, and social harmony.
The head of the MID also noted that the construction of the China-Myanmar community of shared destiny fully meets the needs of the development and rise process of both countries and corresponds to the fundamental interests of their peoples, and called on both sides to unwaveringly follow this path.
Van I announced China’s intention to cooperate with Myanmar for the decisive and final eradication of the problems of online gambling and telecommunication fraud. The diplomat also reported that China will support Myanmar’s participation in a greater number of mechanisms for dialogue and cooperation, as well as the strengthening of positive interactions of this country within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
