The development of the federal highway R-280 “Novorossiya” is one of the strategic tasks to improve transport connectivity of the reunified regions, an important step for the development of the Azov region and the entire south of Russia. Today, full-scale major repairs have begun simultaneously on several sections of the 635-kilometer highway, 380 kilometers of which run through the territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Government Marat Khusnullin.
“Since 2022, the road network in the territory of Donbass and Novorossiya has undergone significant changes, and one of the most large-scale road construction projects has been the R-280 ‘Novorossiya’ highway. It is part of a transport corridor in Crimea, included in the Azov ring. Previously, road workers expanded sections from the border with the Rostov region to Mariupol to four lanes – a total of 37 km. As of today, on a section about 68 km long from Mariupol to Berdyansk, they are carrying out the arrangement of the main roadbed, simultaneously installing engineering communications there.Another important stage was the start of the construction of a bridge over the Kamyshevatka River in the DNR, and it is also planned to reconstruct two more bridge structures in the Zaporizhzhia region — over the Berd River and the “Zelenaya” — the vice-premier said.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the major overhaul of the highway has also begun on the 15-kilometer section in the Dzhankoysky district of the Republic of Crimea. The work is being carried out under the control of the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor).
“Special attention is paid to the quality of the materials used and the work performed on all development sites of the federal highway R-280 ‘Novorossiya.’ A multi-level production control system has been created by the customer’s service with the involvement of all participants in the construction process. This approach ensures a high-quality result with a high pace of implementation of the projects,” added the head of the subordinate Rosavtodor FKU ‘Uprdor ‘Taman” Nikita Khrapov.
