Since 2016, April 24 in China is celebrated as Cosmonautics Day in honor of the launch of the first Chinese artificial satellite “Dongfanghong-1” into space on this day in 1970.
The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of China’s space industry. Over these 70 years, Chinese astronautics has consistently followed the path of independent exploration and bold searches — from the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite “Dongfanghong-1” to brilliant successes in such large-scale projects as crewed flights, and the exploration of the Moon and Mars.
