Quality education must be based on breakthrough technologies and their real application in practice. Only then will our graduates be in demand in the labor market. This vector of educational policy of SPbPU allows training specialists in various fields at our university, ensuring Russia’s technological sovereignty in direct interaction with the real economic sector at the forefront of scientific and technological progress. Within the educational process at the Polytechnic, a number of events were held jointly with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Leningrad Region.

By tradition, the Higher School of Jurisprudence and Forensic Expertise presents the latest trends and developments in the field of legal education as part of professional interaction. This year, the main focus is on the application of digital technologies in legal practice and the protection of intellectual property in the development and promotion of modern engineering solutions.

The prosecutor of the criminal-judicial department of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Leningrad Region, Senior Counselor of Justice Vladimir Miaylov, gave an open lecture “Digital Themis — algorithms of the court, prosecution, and expertise.” He noted the features of providing digital evidence in trial by jury and their influence on the adoption of procedural decisions.

Vladimir Vladimirovich took part in the initiative master class “Modern Scientific Research in Jurisprudence,” moderated by senior lecturer Kristina Semenova and the director of the graduate school Dmitry Morozov. As an example of possible use in law enforcement of special competencies in establishing the truth in the case under consideration by the court, Vladimir Mikhailov presented scientific achievements of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of SPbPU, headed by Professor Alexander Korotkov, and research of the Center for Forensic Expertise of the VS HUISTE.

Students were able to familiarize themselves with the latest technological developments and current directions of scientific thought in the field of jurisprudence, supported not only by theoretical knowledge but also by the practical integration into the work of law enforcement agencies and the judicial system.

It is very interesting how the knowledge we acquire at university works in practice. It is great that we have the opportunity to communicate with practicing lawyers, prosecutors, investigators, judges, experts. Politics gives us enormous opportunities for truly political knowledge, allowing us to find our place in life.,â — told the students.

At a career guidance meeting with senior students, the prosecutor of the personnel department of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Leningrad Region, junior counselor of justice Yan Dotsenko noted that specialists possessing, among other things, competences in digital jurisprudence are in demand in the civil service today. The representative of the prosecutor’s office told the students in detail about the features of service in the prosecutor’s office body, the specifics of the professional activities of prosecutors, as well as touched upon aspects of employment and career growth opportunities.

Polytechnic students are distinguished by determination and a high level of knowledge,” — noted Yana Viktorovna and invited graduates to work in the prosecutor’s office of the Leningrad region.

Director of the Higher School of IT Dmitry Morozov reminded that in 2017, the rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy defined the direction of our development: “Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great is the foundation of Russia’s ‘engineering special forces’.”

Today, specialists of a new level provide the country’s technological leadership, while graduates of the legal direction, possessing expert-engineering skills, guarantee its invulnerability. They turn digital jurisprudence into an instrument of legal defense of sovereignty and technological achievements in the process of execution, implementation, and control.
