Dmitry Ivanov opens the Olympics
On April 23, an inter-university Olympiad “Femida of the 21st Century” took place at the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, organized by the Department of Forensic Expertise of the Faculty of Forensic Expertise and Law in Construction and Transport (FSEiPT).
The Olympiad is aimed at improving the quality of professional training for students, developing practical skills and interest in the future profession, as well as enhancing competencies in the field of criminal law, criminal procedure, and criminology.
The dean of the Faculty of Forensic Expertise and Law in Construction and Transport addressed the participants with a welcoming speechDmitry Ivanov.He thanked the teams for their participation and noted the importance of such events: “Guys, thank you for finding the time and energy to prepare and come to us. We follow the Olympic principle today: the main thing is not victory, but participation.”
Teams “Vector Expertise” (SPBGASU), “First Department” (Saint Petersburg State University of Economics), “Expert Element” (Saint Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia), and “Gatchina Gendarmes” (Gatchina State University) competed.
The Olympiad program included four stages, combining creative, practical, and theoretical tasks:
-
team presentation;
-
virtual inspection of the scene of the incident;
-
packaging of material evidence and appointment of expert examinations;
-
Brain-ring on specialized disciplines.
At this practical stage, it was necessary to work with modeled situations, as close as possible to real professional activities. Students noted that the tasks allowed them to feel themselves in the role of real specialists – from expert criminologists to investigators, as well as to test their knowledge under conditions of limited time and high competition.
The final brain-ring elicited a lively response: the teams actively joined the discussion, demonstrating not only theoretical preparation but also quick reaction, team cohesion, and the ability to argue their position.
The evaluation of the presentations was carried out by a jury consisting of the deputy dean of FSEIPST for academic work, k. yu. n.Elena Ivanova,senior lecturer of the Department of Forensic Expertise and Research at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police lieutenant colonelAnna Varlachyova,K. Yu. N., Associate Professor of the Department of Public Law Disciplines of Gatchina State UniversityAlbina Bachievaand technical support manager of LLC “Target Technologies”To Mariya Gerasimova.
