At the crossover year of the Russian-Chinese partnership in the field of education, a delegation from the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, headed by the Vice-Rector for Continuing and Pre-University Education Dmitry Tionov, was sent on a working trip to the People’s Republic of China.The delegation also included the head of the International Education Department Evgeny Satalkin, the head of the International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility Department Olga Emelyanova, the director of the Higher School of High Voltage Energy Viktor Belko, and the Deputy Director of the Russian as a Foreign Language Center of the Higher School of Economics, Kristina Vasilyeva.
In the city of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, politicians took part in the solemn ceremony of signing a cooperation agreement between SPbPU and the Guangzhou company “Henyun Xiantai.” On the Chinese side, the agreement was signed by the chairman of the board of directors Yan Zhuyai, vice president of the board of directors Zhang Huo, general director Wang Huai, as well as the chairman of the specialized committee, former vice president of Shandong University Rao Min and executive dean of the Institute for the Training of Armed Forces Veterans, Professor Zhao Linlin.
Cooperation starts in several key areas: the creation of the Russian language center “Polite — Henyun Xiantai” for preparing the best Chinese applicants for studying at SPbPU and the opening of the only Russian language certification center in South China.
The delegation also visited the Guangzhou University of Technology, whose leadership expressed interest in a joint educational project in the fields of electronics, cybersecurity, biotechnology, and the application of artificial intelligence in agriculture and medicine.

At the invitation of the China Trade and Economic Institute – the SCO delegation of SPbPU participated in the “China-Russia Conference on the Development of Integration in Education and Production – 2026” and the presentation of the China-Russia platform of information data on talents, which took place in Qingdao (Shandong Province) at the SCO venue.
The event gathered representatives from more than 40 Chinese and over 10 Russian universities, as well as industry associations and business circles. The participants were addressed with a welcoming speech by the director of the China Trade and Economic Institute — SHOS Cheng Shi. Participants exchanged views on joint personnel training, educational cooperation, and the current state of education development in both countries.
Within the framework of the conference, working meetings were held with the leadership of leading regional universities. The delegation of SPbPU held negotiations with representatives of Shandong University of Science and Technology, University of LinYi, Chinese Ocean University, and Qingdao University of Technology. The parties discussed prospects for academic exchange of students and teachers, joint scientific publications, as well as submission of applications for joint grants.
The idea of the conference continues to prove its relevance, several fruitful meetings were held and new educational initiatives with Chinese partners were outlined. It was impressive that the Chinese side is actively investing in infrastructure ensuring interaction, including a new digital platform for personnel and talent data. It is gratifying that the Polytechnic is perceived as a locomotive for new ideas and models of cooperation, which is confirmed by the large number of requests for negotiations.

In the city of Chuncin, the SPBPU delegation held a working meeting with the director of the education alliance at the multifunctional trade and economic platform for SCO countries. The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation. Russian representatives familiarized themselves with the activities of the alliance, its key projects, and tasks for the development of education and economic integration within the SCO framework.
With the assistance of the alliance, negotiations took place with leading universities in Chongqing. An agreement was reached with the Chongqing University on the development of broad scientific and educational cooperation in engineering fields, and the prospects for submitting joint applications for grants and conducting scientific research activities were also discussed.
A joint bachelor’s and master’s program in construction technologies, including infrastructure and transportation construction, was discussed with Chongqing Jiaotong University.
Programs of student exchange, short educational courses (summer and winter schools) were discussed with the Institute of Foreign Languages, as well as the opening of Russian language courses for Chinese students, and with the Chongqing Professional Institute of Technology, qualification improvement programs for employees of Chinese companies were planned in three in-demand areas: smart manufacturing, biotechnology, and modern construction technologies.
We see that the interest in cooperation with SPbPU from the Chinese universities is growing steadily, since our partners see new opportunities in this interaction for the development of both educational activities and scientific ones. And that means there is a lot of interesting work and ambitious projects ahead.

Successful events held in Guangzhou, Chongqing and Qingdao have created an effective platform for further deepening educational cooperation and personnel exchange between SPbPU and Chinese partners.
