The results of the annual selection of projects for inclusion in the federal register of best improvement practices have been summed up. According to the expert commission’s assessment, 43 projects implemented in 2025 scored the highest points and were included in the register. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Government Marat Khusnullin.

“The government is paying close attention to the development of tools for qualitative transformation of the appearance of Russian settlements. Yesterday, the President announced the start of the all-Russian online voting for the selection of improvement projects. It allows people to directly influence the formation of a comfortable urban environment in their cities and villages. In addition, an annual selection is held for the federal register of best practices. In 2025, 426 applications were received from 88 regions. As a result, 43 projects were recognized as the best.”For the first time, projects from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as from the Kherson region, were included in the final list. The expert commission evaluated the quality of implementation, innovation of solutions, as well as the economic and social effect for the cities. The selection was carried out across seven nominations – from small courtyard spaces to large embankments and parks. The formation of a federal registry allows regions to exchange accumulated experience, analyze modern architectural solutions, and implement the most successful formats for transforming urban spaces, creating a database of ready-made cases that have already proven their demand among residents and social significance,” said Marat Khusnullin.

A significant event was the inclusion in the federal register of best landscaping practices for projects from the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic. For example, in Donetsk, with the support of the city-chief of Moscow, the “Gulliver” square was renovated. According to the residents’ decision, a skate zone, six sports grounds, four children’s playgrounds, six recreation areas, and an amphitheater appeared there. At the same time, the Gulliver figure was restored. In Alchevsk (LPR), after winning the all-Russian competition of the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment, Sovetskaya Square was transformed, where there had been no repairs for over 50 years. With the support of the region-chief of the Volgograd region, on an area of 19.5 thousand square meters.New tiles were laid, sports and children’s playgrounds, a skate park, and a light and music fountain were built. Both public spaces have become centers of attraction for residents of all ages. After being included in the federal register, the experience of Donetsk and Alchevsk can be replicated across the country.

“We see how year by year not only the quantity but also the quality of the presented projects is growing. The expansion of the competition’s geography, the inclusion in the registry of practices from the reunited regions and the city of Baikonur is a landmark achievement, confirming that systematic work on creating a comfortable urban environment is spreading across the entire country. The federal registry of best practices is becoming an effective tool for replicating successful solutions and helps municipalities transform public spaces faster and with higher quality.”Such systemic work is carried out within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” where the priority is precisely to create a comfortable and safe environment for citizens. We face ambitious and specific goals: by 2030, at least 30 thousand public spaces, including parks, embankments, and squares, must be improved in Russia. At the same time, at least 1.6 thousand projects will be implemented in small towns and historical settlements — the winners of the all-Russian competition.”These indicators are an important part of the state task to improve the quality of life in the support settlements by 30% by 2030 and by 60% by 2036. The formation and replenishment of the register of best practices is one of the key mechanisms that allows us to achieve these goals by demonstrating specific results that the whole country can be proud of,” noted the Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Irek Faizullin.

Also, for the first time, a project from Baikonur has been included in the federal register, participating in the competition since 2024. One of the country’s best practices is recognized as the improvement of Lenin Square, where a modern multifunctional space with a LED musical fountain has been created.
