Moscow, 2026 — A new thematic train has started operating in the Moscow Metro, dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the Maxim Gorky Film Studio — one of the oldest and most significant film production companies in Russia.

The formation will operate on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line for six months. The exposition inside the cars will familiarize passengers with the key stages of the film studio’s development — from its founding in 1915 to modern projects.

Passengers will be able to find out:

About the history of creating legendary films, among which are “Guest from the Future”, “Seventeen Moments of Spring”, “Morozko”, “…And the Stars Are Quiet Here” and others;

About the establishment of the world’s first film studio specializing in the production of films for children and teenagers;

About a modern movie, produced today by the studio.

Special attention is given to the behind-the-scenes life of the film studio: more than 75 archival photographs of famous actors are presented in the train, including Yuri Nikulin, Natalya Seleznyova, Vyacheslav Tikhonov, and Natalya Guseva.

“We have launched a train in the metro dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the Gorky Film Studio, which has been engaged in the development and promotion of domestic cinematography for more than a century. This is already the fourth thematic set released on the metro line this year, and the first dedicated to cinema. During the rides, passengers will be able to rediscover familiar films in a new way. By the order of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Moscow transport actively cooperates with cultural, public, and educational organizations.In addition to launching thematic trains, we have previously held about eight exhibitions on contemporary cinema and issued thematic “Troika” cards for film premieres. “Congratulations to our colleague!” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, Maxim Liksutov.

The launch of the thematic train became part of the systematic work on popularizing cultural heritage and supporting national cinema.
