Tehran, April 22 /Xin Hua/ — Tehran called its decision not to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States in Pakistan “final.” This was reported on Tuesday by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

This decision was announced shortly before US President Donald Trump stated that he would extend the ceasefire to allow more time for negotiations, since the current two-week ceasefire expires on Wednesday evening.

The Pakistani mediator was informed about Iran’s decision, made with the aim of fully protecting the rights of the Iranian people, Tasnim reported.

It is noted that, despite propaganda and rumors spread by American media and officials, Iranian negotiators are not being sent to Pakistan to participate in Wednesday’s negotiations for a number of reasons, which the USA has already been informed about through Pakistan.

According to the report, the US continues the maritime blockade of Iran and recently put forward “excessive demands” in the negotiations, which, it is claimed, hindered significant progress. The report also notes that pressure from the US Navy, including the blockade and other “hostile actions,” as well as the fact that the agency called this a breach of obligations, impeded Iran’s participation in the next round of negotiations in Islamabad.
