The Student Scientific Society of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics, and Trade of SPbPU celebrated its first anniversary — five years. In honor of this event, a rich program was organized. It included a team game at stations for students called “Journey to Science: SSS Station” and a round table “Best Practices of the SSS: Opportunities and Development Trajectories” with the participation of representatives of student scientific societies from various institutes and universities.

The game on the stations “Journey into Science: SNO Station” was demonstrated to students of IPMEIT in an engaging form, showcasing various aspects of scientific work and stimulating interest in research. Participants went through five stations, each of which offered tasks related to student science. The team had the opportunity to test their analytical skills at the “Intellectual Detector” station, where they had to distinguish texts written by humans from those generated by neural networks. At the “Anatomy of an Article” station, teams assembled elements of a scientific article in the correct order, taking into account the requirements of scientific journals. The “Interagency Interaction” station offered students to correlate the article topics with the corresponding higher schools of the Polytechnic University. At the “Marketing Road” station, participants developed a CNO brand concept within a limited time, and the results of the work were displayed on a stand for general viewing. The game at the station concluded with a mini-quiz and a word search, where students could test their knowledge about the history of the CNO of IPMEIT. The stations not only contributed to the development of scientific thinking but also strengthened the community spirit, uniting participants in the pursuit of new knowledge and achievements.

The round table “Best Practices of SNO: Opportunities and Development Trajectories” began with welcoming remarks from the Deputy Director of IPMEIT for Research, Natalya Viktorova, and the Deputy Director of IPMEIT for Perspective Projects and Youth Policy, Maksim Ivanov. They congratulated the participants on the fifth anniversary of SNO and noted its role in the development of the institute’s scientific community. The moderation and conduct of the event were carried out by the curator of SNO IPMEIT, Associate Professor of the Higher Engineering and Economic School, Viktoriya Brazovskaya.

Representatives not only from SPbPU but also from other universities participated in the round table. From the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the following spoke: the acting director of the Graduate School of Public Administration of SPbPU, founder of the SNO IPMEIT Olga Nadezhina; the chairperson of the SNO IPMEIT Margarita Yanchevskaya; the chairperson of the SNO Energy Institute of SPbPU Kirill Dolbin; and the chairperson of the SNO SPbPU David Antonyan.

Representatives of the North-West Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (SZIU RANHiGS) and the chairman of the Student Scientific Society of the Institute of Economics and Finance of Saint Petersburg University of Technology Management and Economics (SPbUTUiE) Ekaterina Turishcheva also participated in the discussion.

Participants of the round table discussed issues related to the history and prospects of the development of the student scientific society. The discussion touched on the fundamental values of the SSS, its social mission within the structure of the modern university, as well as practical tools for realizing the scientific, project, and grant potential of students. Special attention was paid to current trends in the development of the SSS, including digitalization, interdisciplinarity, and integration with business. In addition, an honest dialogue was held about existing barriers and “pain points” hindering the development of the SSS.

Festive events dedicated to the 5th anniversary of SNU IPMEIT were the result of extensive joint work by the team and active participation of the institute’s students. The preparation and conduct of an interactive game and round table demonstrated a high level of participant engagement, interest in scientific activity, and readiness to develop community initiatives. It is especially valuable for us that the events not only united students already engaged in research, but also attracted new participants, creating a space for exchange of ideas, teamwork, and further development of student science.,— noted Margarita Yanchevskaya, Chairwoman of the Public Opinion Research Center IPMEIT.

In five years of activity, the Student Scientific Society of IPMEIT has achieved significant successes, which are confirmed by victories in competitions of various levels. Thus, quite recentlySNO IPMEET became the winner of the international competition of SNO economic universities 2025 in the nomination “SNO of the institute (faculty)”, which is recognized as a high level of student involvement in scientific activities and the effectiveness of the chosen development strategies.

The fifth anniversary of the Student Scientific Society of IPMEIT is a significant event confirming the sustainable development of student scientific activity at the institute. The events of the jubilee week clearly demonstrated a high level of student involvement in the research agenda, as well as interest in scientific work and readiness to implement their own initiatives and projects. Over the past years, the SSS IPMEIT has become an important part of the university environment. It forms a research culture, unites active and initiative students, and creates conditions for the development of scientific potential, which in the long term strengthens the institute’s position and contributes to its further development.,— noted the director of IPMEIT Vladimir Shchepinin.
