Shijiazhuang, April 22 /Xinhua/ — On Wednesday, a freight train carrying 49 forty-foot containers loaded with auto parts and other goods departed from the city of Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province (Northern China) to Central Asia, marking the official launch of the Zhangjiakou-Central Asia railway route operating on a regular schedule.

The train will cross the state border via the Alashankou checkpoint of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region / Northwest China / and, it is expected, will arrive in Almaty, Kazakhstan in about 13 days. The total length of the route is 3,171 km.

Zhangjiakou, located in the key area of the intersection of the territories of Beijing, Hebei Province, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia, is an important hub for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and also serves as a key connecting link between the economic belt of the Bohai Bay and the internal resource areas of Northwest China. In August 2023, the first train for the China-Europe/Central Asia international freight railway route departed from Zhangjiakou.

The launch of regular transportation will allow foreign trade enterprises of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province to accurately track the dynamics of cargo transportation, rationally plan production and order fulfillment, as well as effectively reduce logistical costs, which will ensure the stability of trade relations between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Central Asia. -0-
