The Russian national team participated in the XVII International Advanced Level Informatics Tournament (IATI), which took place from April 15 to 17 in Shumen (Bulgaria). As a result of the competition, the schoolchildren were awarded 8 gold and 4 silver medals.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov congratulated the outstanding students.
“Congratulations to our students on an excellent result – 12 medals! The guys demonstrated a high level of knowledge and skills in computer science, one of the areas that are the driving forces of Russia’s technological leadership. I thank the parents and mentors for their contribution to development and support. On our part, within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children”, the Government conducts systematic work to create conditions for the development of talents and the realization of the potential of the younger generation. I wish the medalists to continue taking advantage of the existing opportunities, to improve, and to pursue the set goals,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
“This success is the result of perseverance and a high level of training. Guys, you have worthily represented the country, confirmed the level of the domestic programming school. I would like to separately note that the study of computer science in schools is given serious attention: we consistently develop this direction, creating modern conditions for training and supporting gifted children. I wish the participants new achievements, confidence in their abilities, and further victories in studies and science,” commented Sergey Kravtsov.
Russian schoolchildren participated in online-format competitions. They solved tasks in the programming language C/C++.
16 countries participated in the senior league. The total number of participants was 285 people. Russia won four gold and four silver medals. The gold medals were awarded to Evgeny Kuznetsov (MBOU Secondary School No.33)Lipetsk named after P.N. Shubin), Vadim Kustov (GBOU Lyceum No. 533 “Educational Complex “Malaya Ohta”” of the Krasnogvardeysky District of Saint Petersburg), Matvey Makarov (general education autonomous non-profit organization “School Center for Pedagogical Mastery”) and Vladimir Zvezdin (GBNOU “Presidential Physical and Mathematical Lyceum No. 239”), silver – Anton Borisov (OANO “School Center for Pedagogical Mastery”), Alexey Marchenko (GBOU of the city of Moscow “Vorobyovy Gory”), Andrey Lashkin (MBOU “Lyceum No. 3” (Sarov city, Nizhny Novgorod region) and Maksim Umnov (GBOU of the city of Moscow “School No. 179”).
The Junior League united 154 people from 13 countries. Russian schoolchildren received four gold medals. And the holders were Rustam Nezhmetdinov (State Budgetary Educational Institution of the city of Moscow “School No. 444”), Danis Ueldanov (State Budgetary Educational Institution of the city of Moscow “Lyceum ‘Second School’ named after V.F. Ovchinnikov”), Nikolay Kondratenko (State Autonomous Educational Institution of the Moscow Region “Korolev Scientific and Engineering Profile Lyceum”), and Vladislav Pavlyuchkov (Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Bryansk City Lyceum No. 2 named after M.V. Lomonosov”).
The international tournament in Bulgaria is one of the stages in preparing the team for the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics, which will be held from August 9 to 16 in Uzbekistan.
