With the support of Rosneft, over the past nine years more than 560 professional retraining and qualification improvement programs have been implemented at the I.M. Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NIU). More than 32 thousand company employees have undergone training under these programs.
Rosneft cooperates with 203 educational organizations within the corporate continuous education system “School-college/university-enterprise.” Among the partners are 82 Russian and foreign universities, 65 colleges, and 56 schools. The program has been in effect since 2005 and is aimed at forming an external personnel reserve from among schoolchildren and students in the Company’s region of production activity.
RGPU named after Gubkin is a strategic university-partner of Rosneft. The cooperation between the Company and the university in the field of education has been ongoing for over 20 years and has a comprehensive nature, involving educational, scientific research, and innovative activities.
On April 17, students and faculty of the university celebrate Gubkin Day. In honor of this day, the university traditionally holds ceremonial events, scientific conferences, as well as sports activities.
Over the years of partnership with the participation of Rosneft at the university, the following have been created and are successfully operating:
- Two basic departments of “Rosneft” – “Management of the supply system of the oil and gas company” and “Design of oil refining and petrochemical enterprises”;
- two specialized master’s programs – “Internal Audit and Control” and “Supply Chain Management in Oil and Gas Companies”;
- The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program “Fundamentals of International Oil and Gas Business”, including the involvement of foreign educational organizations.
- Marine drilling center where specialists in drilling offshore oil and gas wells are trained;
- The Company’s Technical Qualifications Center.
Every year, students of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas undergo industrial and pre-diploma internships at Rosneft. In 2025, 239 students underwent internships at the Company. The best students and promising teachers are rewarded with corporate grants and scholarships. The Company also allocates grants to the university’s scientific and pedagogical staff for conducting research.
In addition, the best students of the “Rosneft Classes” from the regions where the Company operates enroll in the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas after graduating from school. Currently, more than 130 graduates of the “Rosneft Classes” are studying at the university. For many years, the university has also served as a venue for holding the Interregional Scientific and Technical Conference for young “Rosneft” specialists. With the support of “Rosneft”, the university regularly conducts training for foreign citizens and students.
