Washington, April 15 /Xin Hua/ — A US Navy destroyer intercepted and redirected a cargo ship under the Iranian flag in the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on Wednesday by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces /CENTCOM/.
“Yesterday, a cargo ship under the Iranian flag attempted to bypass the US blockade, leaving the port of Bandar Abbas, exiting the Strait of Hormuz, and traveling along the Iranian coast,” – says the statement from the command on the social network X. The missile destroyer USS Spruance successfully intercepted the ship, which returned to Iran.
At the moment, 10 ships have been turned back. Since the introduction of the US naval blockade on Monday, not a single ship has been able to pass through the strait, CENTCOM reported.
American forces completely blocked Iran’s maritime trade in less than 36 hours from the moment the blockade was imposed. This was stated on Tuesday by CENTCOM head Brad Cooper.
